The sentimental value in a cup of coffee

Today I thought I would let you, my readers know something a little personal about me. One of my favorite bloggers, BakedBree gave me the advice to always be myself on the blog and I LOVED this, so much that it inspired me. I’m sure you have noticed I don’t focus on just one topic. That is why my blog name is Shelbyallover andย I think this post will be unlike any other topic I have covered thus far.

I am a very sentimental person. I hold onto items that have meaning to me, especially pictures. I also love having my coffee every morning! It’s the best way to start my day. Whether it’s a fast paced morning and I am enjoying a cup as I am getting ready or if I am sitting by myself in my living room sipping from one of my favorite mugs and reflecting over my devotion. (I am currently writing this post and sipping from a mug a friend brought me back from Peru). Whatever the case, I am always enjoying it from a unique mug that I have collected. I started collecting the summer of 2014 and I have over 50 mugs.

It all started one day when my boyfriend and I went to Dollywood with two other couples. We rode the Tennessee Tornado. Which is a fast-paced, fun roller coaster! You know how when you get off the roller coaster and you see the funny pictures of you and your friends screaming at the top of your lungs? Well the pictures were hilarious and I wanted to keep them but they were ridiculously priced.. so I didn’t. Dylan noticed they were selling coffee mugs for a better price with the same pictures, so I bought one! You actually can’t even buy mugs from Dollywood like that anymore, so it makes it even more special to me. I look back on that day and it is one of my most cherished memories.

Ever since then, I always buy a coffee mug when I am out traveling or making memories. I even have friends bring me back mugs from places they visit and to me there truly isn’t a better gift that I can receive!

I absolutely love starting my morning off drinking coffee and reminiscing on the memories that my mug holds. It’s not just about the coffee mug. It’s the sentimental value that each one has. I get to enjoy coffee while I reflect back to the memory I was making the day I bought the mug. It reminds me of the people I was with or the moment I was in. There are also the mugs that people gave me as gifts. Even though it is something so small, knowing that someone cares enough to remember me and buy a mug, brings so much joy to my life, more than they realize!

Here are just a few of my many cherished coffee mugs!

My best friend bought this as a birthday present for me. I love the quote and the picture doesn’t do its size justice. This mug is the biggest one I have and is twice the size of most of my mugs.

I remember I wasn’t necessarily looking for a mug the day I found this one. My friend and I were out shopping & she picked it up, turned around and said, “you have to buy this”. I think it’s so unique and I adore it! I love cats!

So, what has sentimental value to you? What do you collect?
